All the New Products Announced by Apple
Apple Watch Series 5
The next generation of Apple Watch, Series 5, includes an always-on display. You can always see the time and any health concerns. It will still maintain an 18-hour battery life. The workout metrics screen has been updated so that you can see it while working out. Plus, now you can covertly glance at your wrist during those business meetings. It's available on September 20.
Interestingly, there's a compass now included in the watch. It even has its own app that shows you latitude, longitude, incline and more. This is available to developers as well.
New safety features are also rolling out, including improved emergency services that allows you to make calls in 150 countries by holding down the side button, even without your iPhone.
Series 5 also includes titanium models for the first time ever. A new Nike watch is rolling out that includes Nike-branded watch faces and wristbands.
The Apple Watch, like other wearables, makes it possible to collect hoards of health data. So, there will also be three new health studies along with the launch:
- Apple Hearing Study
- Apple Women's Health Study:
- Apple Heart and Movement Study
You can enroll through a new Apple Watch app called Apple Research. It'll be available in the U.S. later this year.
iPad Seventh Gen
The sixth generation iPad will be replaced with a new seventh generation iPad. It's designed with iPad OS, a new operating system, in mind. It features a 10.2-inch retina display, boasting 3.5 million pixels. It will cost $329. It'll begin shipping at the end of the month.
New software, aptly named iPad OS, takes advantage of the large display on an iPad while thinking about the unique experience on an iPad as compared to on an iPhone. It includes a floating keyboard that lets you see more of the screen and type with one hand. You can also multitask and see more than one screen at a time.
Apple TV+
The first shows will be available on November 1 for 100 countries at launch. The service is also $4.99/month for a family subscription. One year of Apple TV+ comes with all future purchases of MacBooks, iPhones, iPads, all hardware.
As part of the launch, and following the trend of technology companies creating original programming, Apple will unveil a new original film called "See," which takes place in a future where humans lose their sense of sight. Except, some of the children are starting to be born with sight. It's a power that the rest of the world thinks of as magical or even evil. Starring Jason Momoa, the film will come out on Apple TV+ when it debuts.
Apple Arcade
The first announcement was not surprising, considering Apple unveiled its Apple Arcade concept earlier this year. On Tuesday, the company gave more details on the new subscription service, which works on mobile, desktop and TV.
The service will have 100 all-new games at launch that aren't available on any other service. New games will be added every month.
The service will launch in 150 countries on September 19. It'll cost $4.99 per month for a family subscription. At launch, you can get a one month free trial.
